How I first got into shooting: |
I won a "New Member Gun", at our Local GSSF match, three years ago, and then, I pretty much jumped in with both feet! Although I have a Bad Back, that has faced 17 MAJOR surgeries (including a Double Fusion), and I was recently Diagnosed with Systemic Lupus, and Fibromyalgia, I try to shoot, EVERY USPSA match that I can attempt to make it to. Being Disabled for 15 years, has caused some depression, that made me feel sorry for myself. When I discovered Shooting Sports, my life, literally changed before my eyes. It brought me out of my shell, and it has introduced me to, SO MANY WONDERFUL people! I may not run fast or shoot too well, but the way I look at it, WHENEVER I can make it out to a match, I try to take the pain in my body, and put it, INTO my SHOOTING. It is hard to describe....but I often say, that SHOOTING SPORTS, SAVED MY LIFE, without a doubt! It gives me something to look forward to, other than Epidurals, Doctor Visits, Chemo, and Daily UNRELENTING Pain. It NEVER fails....when I wake up on a match day.... I clap my hands and state to my Husband...."Yippie...It's IPSC DAY!!!!!" |
My preferred shooting style: |
Well, there is not much to my "speed demoness", so I just try to shoot the match, one stage at a time, to try and see, how many stages, I can shoot CLEAN. If I can accomplish this, then my "match head", is a HAPPY head! |
Primary Sponsor(s): |
Ha!!!! Now THAT'S FUNNY!!! Although, Glock, is the ONLY Firearm that I will EVER shoot, all of my clothing is hand dyed pink, and Glock Emblems are placed onto EVERY garment that I wear shooting. So, if GLOCK is EVER interested in sponsoring a Cute little Cripple Chick Shooter....... I GUESS I would at least THINK about it!!! HaHaHa.....SEE, I TOLD you that it was FUNNY!! :o) |
My most prestigious titles are: |
Title 1: - Best Color Coordinated Shooter! Title 2: - Best Match Cookie Baker! Title 3: - Most Likely to lug the most STUFF to a Match! Title 4: - Official Video Taper of the Squad that we are shooting with! Title 5: - Without a DOUBT.....the most ENTHUSIASTIC "D CLASS" shooter around! |
Why I like shooting USPSA matches: |
Even as a "Late Bloomer Shooter" (I started at 42), this has got to be the MOST fun sport in the WORLD! I was a pretty decent Bowler, (187 AVG.) before I injured my back at work. With the many unsuccessful surgeries, the hope of EVER returning to bowling, grew smaller and smaller with each passing new surgery. I was finally given the news that I was 100% disabled, and there went ALL hope of any sport EVER again. Until I found SHOOTING! With USPSA shooting, I can sit and rest between shooters and stages. I can (and have gone home because I could not finish on that day, because of my disability). I can take my time, and shoot the stage at MY PACE! It's a Win/Win situation for me! |
What I would additionally like you to know about me: |
Just that it's POSSIBLE!!! My weekdays are filled with keeping Doctors appointments, and having tests run. Taking medications that are not pleasant. Because of my Lupus, I must self inject Chemo to "fool my immune system" once a week. BUT.......there are TWO DAYS out of that month, that I get to TRY and put that behind me, and go out and give my "BEST SHOOT" (pun INTENDED!!!), on the IPSC fields! It is the HARDEST thing that I have EVER done. Being in pain literally WIPES you out, physically AND mentally. The most widespread comment that I hear on a regular basis is "But you don't LOOK sick"! This comment is the BANE of my existence! I may not "look" ill, but the INTERNAL fight that is going on INSIDE, is what drives me to endure the pain for TWO DAYS out of the month, and show up to shoot that match! Later on during the week, when I am sometimes too wiped out to even change the channel on the TV, I can look back with some amount of pride, and say, "It hurts like hell,,,,,,It's SO HARD to LIVE like this, without a "break", and what is there to look forward to?" I quickly remember that, in two weeks, there is an IPSC match to shoot! This is HONESTLY, what gets me thru the days of pain, migraines, Lupus Flares, and Doctors. To this I say,,,,THANK YOU USPSA!!! |
My favorite USPSA event is: |
I really love our monthly local match, at Old Bridge Rifle & Pistol Club. The stages are ALWAYS interesting, and USUALLY, fun to shoot! My favorite Major Match, to date, was Summer Blast '08. |
Additional Comments: |
I think that the fact that when I shoot a a Local Match or a Major Match, we get to shoot with some of the BEST shooters in the COUNTRY, is actually the most fantastic thing about the USPSA shooters! That, even though, I am a "D Class" shooter, I have been squadded with GRAND MASTERS, who are some of the nicest people that I have EVER had the pleasure of meeting! AND,,,,,not only are they super people,,,,but, they will even give shooting tips to me, (AFTER they ask, "if I mind, if they offer me some advice" (of course I DON'T MIND,,,,Mr. Super Shooter,,,,take time out of YOUR match to help little ole ME!!!) I mean, how AWESOME IS THAT?!?!?!?!? |
