Love Yoga, Love Bible Study and I train our dogs for the local senior citizen Pet Therapy programs. Also participate in variety of English and Western riding events and heading out to the Iditarod to learn "dog mushing."

How I first got into shooting:

Turned 45 years old, received a handgun as birthday gift, used it to compete in local matches with my husband and had much fun! Met Lisa Munson at an Area 2 match in November 2003, she introduced me to Kay Miculek and Julie Goloski in April 2004, the rest is history!

My preferred shooting
style:

I'm more of a speed demon specializing in a theory called "A and a prayer." I know my first hit is 99% of the time an A and then I throw a second shot at the target praying for it to be there as I'm already on to the next target. Patience and accuracy don't seem to be my strong suits. I love the "run and gun" stages with close targets and now finally finding the joy in swingers and steel. I'm especially starting to like steel!

My National finishes among the Top 8 Women:

As close as I've come to a title is 2nd place in the Rocky Mt. 3-gun national event in Ladies Limited Division.

Why I like shooting USPSA matches:

Camraderie and it's a true "thinking" game!

What I would additionally like you to know about me:

I knew coming into this "game" already over 45 years old I probably wouldn't become a title holder. Instead I devote a significant amount of time to introducing other women to an education in firearms through our Babes with Bullets camp program. I wrote the Babes with Bullets book because I knew there were other women like me who were a little bit intimidated to come out and try shooting sports. I wanted to let them know it's safe, it's fun and it's empowering! The blessings I've received from being involved in women's shooting sports, being involved with USPSA, are unbelievable and could happen only in the USA! Introducing more women to those blessings seems like the next natural step.

My favorite USPSA event is:

3-gun events with handgun, rifle and shotgun. Even if I'm having a bad match with handgun it usually turns out I have a good match with either rifle or shotgun. Very much a "thinking" game and a bit more physical but that seems to suit me.
